Replace text on a webpage
Start with one simple rule. Understand the result, its scope and how to return to the original page.
What it is for#
SuperTextSwap finds matching webpage text and changes what your browser displays. Use it for reading terminology, brand-copy previews and test-page text changes. It is not a server-side content editor.
Set up a replacement#
- Open the extension on an ordinary webpage.
- Enter text to find, such as “idea”.
- Enter replacement text, such as “possibility”.
- Select the current-domain scope and add the rule.
- Inspect the page. Use Apply now if needed.
The homepage demo only changes its own sample. Install the extension to work on other webpages.
Control & restore#
Manage rules in the workbench. After disabling or removing a rule, reload the webpage if the old replacement is still visible. Do not assume deleting a rule automatically restores existing text.
Dynamic pages may insert new content that matches active rules. Narrow the URL or element scope to reduce unintended changes.
Before changing form fields#
Inputs and rich-text editors can be included through separate options. Review their content before submitting a form: the changed text may be sent to the website. Reading-only workflows usually do not need these options.
